After I noticed Eva was having trouble with her memory, I asked her stay home for a few days, even though My Eva never takes days off, she agreed.
Thanksgiving had come and went, Eva and I had the entire family over, family came from NY, NJ, and VA it was nice to have everyone over.
The following week Eva was still tired, she claimed that she had headaches and was having trouble sleeping.
So now we spoke about her getting some help, I wanted her to go see her doctor who’s office was located near George Washington Hospital.
To my objections, Eva went to the doctors office alone, her blood was taken, she was given some meeds to help her sleep and was informed by her doctor to check back in a week or so, the normal routine.
I notice that Eva was not home after I returned from work,My Eva not home, where could she be?
To my relief she pulled up in the driveway after a few minutes, but she looked disheveled and somewhat scared. I asked why she took so long returning home.
With fear in her eyes, she simple said; I became confused on the train and could not remember how to get home!
I tried to play it off with Eva, and tell her that she probably had a “Senior Moment" but I was scared that MY Eva was loosen it. She has been riding public transportation for 15 years, no way she just up and forgot.

Lupus Covert Attack
I noticed my Eva, was not sleeping, I figured ( like most ) she was worried about something. So I asked her if she was all right? She said that she was having headaches. I was concerned like any Man ( husband) would be. So I started to suggest going to bed earlier. She still seemed to have trouble sleeping.
I then started to notice that she was really starting to worry more than usual about the daily routine of just working and paying bills. The concerns started with the health insurance not being paid, which was not the case, (Eva had decided to switch to an option that was less expensive). She had misplaced the file. Then it was the car insurance, and other monthly bills started to be life ending issues for her.
Early one morning, My Eva was sitting up on the edge of the bed, looking at papers, small pieces of paper with what looked like a small to do list. But little did I know, that My Eva was starting to forget information and she was trying to write things down to help remember!
I started to really wonder, what was going to happen next?
What was happening to MY EVA?

That Day
I wanted to share my story as a MAN with a WOMEN who has a disease, which no cure is known, and for the last fifty plus years the FDA has not developed or approved a drug to FIGHT the illness. It was DECEMBER 2006, It was a Sunday, and I was doing what most men do; watching NFL Football. My Wife was up stairs puttering around in the office. A few hours had gone by it was late afternoon.
Eva, came to the top of the stairs and says she thinks she made a terrible mistake, and that we may have lost our medical insurance.
I figured it was something that show needed another pair of eyes to help see the problem. At that time I did not know Lupus was starting a slow covert attack on my Wife.

Not Mad @ FDA at All
can only speak as a man who has watched Lupus come in to my home and turn my wife's life upside down in just
45 days. So if that is experience then, I guess I can say, that I was excited about the NEW DRUG for LUPUS, butas the news person stated that Benlysta would not be as effective on African Americans as it would be for others
My response was, “What?"
Ok, I was a puzzled because LUPUS is disease whereby the majority of it’s survivors are people of color! So why wasn’t there more research and development for the majority of those effected?
I had a hard time falling asleep afterwards, and I stayed up trying to understand and not take this FANTASTIC news as a slap in the face. The next morning, on all the news cycles people were talking about how this FDA approval, has now put LUPUS on the radar ( at least for today), andt the international community will know what 1.5 Million survivors live with on a daily bases!
I’m not mad @ all...
